Everything went relatively fine until a lot of sites simultaneously started getting random errors (error 520) starting from late July 2021. The Cloudflare response was pathetic. They "identified and fixed" the issue at least three times within two months, the only problem being that all users who experienced the issue continued to experience it. Communication with their tech support over two months went like this: once every two weeks a new tech support rep would pop up, apologize for the delay, ask me if I still have the problem and ask to provide all the same information. I re-submit all the same information only for another tech support rep to appear and start asking all the same questions after two weeks. Finally my patience with them was exhausted and I quit Cloudflare. Needless to say, all errors went away immediately. Unfortunately it looks like the last engineer who actually understood how all their infrastructure worked left the company leaving behind a bunch of "efficient managers" and overloaded 1st tier tech support reps...
