I was searching for a pet sitter and signed up with care.com, choosing their monthly subscription plan (the option with the least amount of time) so that I could actually message sitters. When I found a sitter I liked it was set up where I couldn't message her directly; care.com wanted to book her (be the middle man) and required a temporary hold on my credit card. The hold wasn't even monetarily appropriate, meaning I only needed care for an hour a day for my dog, rather than all day. No options to change. I'm not comfy with temporary holds due to a past negative experience and that's my perogative. I immediately tried to cancel my subscription and of course the phone number I had to search for referred me back to the site for "help". Long story short, the best they could do was cancel my recurring monthly subscription but they did not give me a refund, as per their terms and conditions I'd agreed to. (Since I immediately tried to cancel, within 20 mins of signing up, I feel their terms and conditions could have been waived). This was a great site for me during covid. I was able to directly interact with child care sitters without additional holds on my credit card. I'm so disappointed with this site and do not recommend it.
