As I paid for my purchase at my local Cancer Research shop this afternoon the cashier asked if I wanted a lottery ticket. I declined. Then, without telling me how much my purchase was, she asked if I wanted to 'round up' my payment! I was a little surprised and asked how much my shopping total was. It was only a few pence but I declined as I donate to charity regularly. She looked up at me with absolute contempt! I know that times are hard but is this really an acceptable way to raise more cash? If I had wanted to add a donation to my payment I would have told her!
