Non existing flat and no help to rebook last moment

We booked 1 month in advance. The day before the trip since I was only getting automated response from our host I decided to call. Apparently booking had to remove this add ages ago and dispite having taking my payment the flat had been sold ages ago. I tried contacting booking to look for a replacemnt. There wasn't any sense of urgency, had to constanly talk to several people over the phone. We where flexible with many things, but instead of taking charge or offering something suitable even if it was more expensive at no extra charge they ofered leftovers of whatever they had. We where given flats far away and with sofabeds. After losing all my day trying to solve it with them at 18:00 I had to go ahead and book it by myself as we where travelling next day. Thanks I had some savings aside because it took more than one week to get the refund otherwise I wouldn't had been able to do a second booking (no help in this regard either they expect you to suddenly pay for an extra accomodation).
