Product Review for SAFAVIEH Handmade Martha Stewart Collection Berthild Checkered Wool RugI purchased the SAFAVIEH Handmade Martha Stewart Collection Berthild Checkered Wool Rug (9’ x 12’, Black/Beige) from Bed Bath & Beyond, but unfortunately, my experience with this purchase was disappointing.The rug arrived folded instead of rolled, which caused permanent creases that have visibly damaged its appearance. Additionally, the packaging was dirty, which was not acceptable for a product at this price point. I contacted customer service, and while they promptly provided a $50 partial refund for the dirty packaging, they refused to offer further compensation for the damage to the rug caused by improper packaging.I was offered a full refund if I returned the rug, but returning a 9’ x 12’ rug is inconvenient and impractical for me. Despite my attempts to resolve the matter, customer service stated that their system prevents them from issuing further compensation or overriding the initial refund.While I appreciate the partial credit, it did not fully address the damage to the rug. I expected better packaging and resolution from Bed Bath & Beyond for such a premium product. I hope the company improves its packaging process to prevent damage to similar items in the future and provides more flexibility in handling customer concerns.“A Shadow of Its Former Self”I used to love shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond. About 10 years ago, this store was known for its excellent customer service, high-quality products, and generous return policies. It had a stellar reputation, and I was a loyal customer.Unfortunately, my recent experience with them shows how far they’ve fallen. I purchased a SAFAVIEH rug that arrived damaged due to poor packaging, and while I received a small partial refund, the company refused to provide further compensation for the damage. Returning the rug would have been too much of a hassle, given its size. Their customer service repeatedly told me they were “unable” to help any further, which left me feeling unheard and frustrated.After leaving a review on Trustpilot, I saw many others had similar one-star experiences. It’s clear that this level of service is a pattern and not a one-off issue. It explains a lot about why the company went out of business.It’s sad to see a company that was once so reliable lose the trust of its customers. I hope they serve as a lesson for other businesses about the importance of maintaining quality, integrity, and customer care.
