I live overseas and a lot of my friends and I used to listen to BBC world service. I’m a native speaker but the poor standard of spoken English is now so bad I can barely understand it. My friends who speak English as a second language think it has deteriorated beyond comprehension across most programmes. They often can’t understand the poor quality English and certainly don’t want to emulate bad regional accents. BBC generally has become a disgrace and whilst we once loved it we now loath it.
