I have been a platinum member for 12 years and thought that I was completely insured on travel all the time. I make one claim and it turns out that you must book the whole holiday with Amex or you are not covered. My partner had organised the flights separately and used her own payment method (not amex). We assumed we had comprehensive travel insurance. She has her bag stolen with contents valued at approx £600 (just wanted to claim on the iPad she lost). We spend half a day wasted queuing to get a police incident report and then find out it was a waste of time. Loyalty clearly doesn't exist. Will be cancelling this year and save my £600 plus fee and give it my partner.
