I had a disappointing experience with Agoda during a recent hotel booking. I was encouraged to “book now and request a price match later,” which initially seemed like a convenient and customer-friendly policy. However, when I submitted all the necessary information and screenshots showing a lower price for the exact same room and conditions, my request was rejected multiple times — each time with inconsistent and unclear reasons. What made the situation worse was the customer service. Every response took a long time, and the entire back-and-forth dragged on for over an hour, despite me providing all the details from the start. It felt like the process was intentionally slow and frustrating, discouraging customers from actually being able to use the price match guarantee. The $24 difference itself wasn’t important to me — I simply wanted to see if the platform stood behind its promises. Unfortunately, this experience has shown me that it does not. This kind of misleading approach wastes customers’ time and creates false expectations. I’ve used Agoda several times before, but this experience has made it clear that I won’t be booking through them again. I’m sharing this to help others be aware and avoid the same frustration.
