I booked a property on Agoda (Generator Rome) which was listed simply as “Generator Rome” — with no clear mention that it is a hostel with shared rooms. On Google Maps, this property is shown as a 4-star hotel — which misled me into thinking I was booking a proper hotel, not a hostel.Agoda failed to clearly indicate that this was a hostel anywhere in the listing. After booking, I found out the truth and contacted customer service — but they refused to take responsibility. They blamed me for booking it, instead of admitting their listing was incomplete and misleading. They are now refusing to refund me, even though this is clearly false advertising under consumer law. Very unprofessional. Be very careful when booking on Agoda — they do not help when the listing is misleading, and will refuse to take accountability.
