I decided to give Abebook a try because a local community college librarian recommended it. I read lots of reviews about Abebook so I knew it functions like ebay where individual sellers are responsible for their own behaviors. There were only a few sellers available for the book I was looking for, and I made sure these are legitimate sellers by looking them up on other selling platforms (Amazon, ebay, etc). I got my book from one seller that also had an account on Amazon, but that seller actually didn't have very good reviews on Amazon either. But this was already the best reviewed seller I could find that also existed on other platforms, I decided to order from them. When the book arrived, it was really beat up and had mold on it even though it was listed as "like new" on Abebook. I think I would agree with many other reviewers that there's not much quality control on Abebook website. I probably won't come back to use Abebook again unless it's the only place I could find a book I need.
