The intention, I believe, is to make us more aware of what is going on around us. To target those areas where change is needed, where iniquities are happening, and where justice is not being done. And, to make us more aware of why and how we MUST care for Mother Earth and all of Nature...which we are completely dependent on, and has as much right to life as do we.
